Nestled between beautiful Lake Osborne to the west and the equally beautiful Lake Worth Lagoon to the east, Lake Worth, Florida offers scenic views at every turn. Known as the "gateway to the tropics", this lovely city is home to just under 40,000 residents. Here, you can take full advantage of that famous south Florida sunshine, miles of beaches, and all the urban amenities you desire.
Just a few miles north of Boca Raton and directly south of West Palm Beach, Lake Worth makes it easy to access world-class shopping, fine dining, and entertainment opportunities. But the city of Lake Worth itself is known as the artistic center of Palm Beach County, a title that comes along with many cultural perks for residents. With more than 1,000 historic buildings scattered throughout the city, a colorful downtown, and a thriving cultural and artistic community, there's always something going on in Lake Worth! Head to the revitalized downtown to browse the many antique shops, art galleries; attend weekly concerts in the central Cultural Plaza; and shop at the weekend farmers' market. For even more exciting art, don't miss the annual Lake Worth Street Painting Festival, one of the largest open-air painting events in the country.
Lake Worth is chock full of parks, beaches, and opportunities to get out there and enjoy the great outdoors. With dozens of golf courses within easy driving distance, one of the most scenic in the area is the Lake Worth Municipal Golf Course. Set on Lake Worth Lagoon and the Intracoastal Waterway, you can play the links while enjoying the views. Spend a day in the sand at Lake Worth Beach, home to a casino set in a restored, 1920s neoclassical building.
Take a relaxing stroll down the William O. Lockhart Municipal Pier to watch the surfers play in the waves, or have a picnic in John Prince Memorial Park. You can take a kayak or canoe tour of calm Lake Osborne, or grab your bike and ride the winding trails that surround the lake. For more outdoor fun, spend a day exploring the Snook Islands Natural Area. With boat launches, a fishing pier, and a nature walk through the mangroves, you might even spot dolphins, manatees, and some of the area's many feathered residents, including egrets and cormorants.
Lake Worth is home to one of Florida's oldest higher education institutions; Palm Beach State College was founded here in 1933. In fact, the area has been settled since the mid-1800s and has a rich history. You can learn more about the region's past at the Lake Worth Historical Museum, as well as by taking a walking tour of the city's more-than 1,000 historical cottages. Painted in soft pastels and surrounded by a shady canopy of tall trees, this collection of historic homes is the largest in the state.
Whether you're seeking a historical cottage of your own, a golf course home, or a waterfront condo or estate, you'll find what you're looking for in Lake Worth. Veno Realty Group is here to help you buy or sell your Lake Worth home! Contact us at 561-748-8366.
